| Why have a Birrificio Italiano scale? Because we have always wanted to create something new and exciting on the humdrum scenario of Italian breweries. There was nothing in Italy that could explain our philosophy, which appreciates the hedonistic aspect of beer drinking as much as the technological-scientific aspects tied to its production. Although we employ – or, better yet, are freely inspired by – the strictly technical aspects of traditional German brewing techniques, we do not believe that beer must only be served with sausages, nor have we ever thought of copying debatable German beer hall decor and service. | Perhaps we should briefly explain that everything produced by "Birrificio Italiano®" derives from what is practically an obsession for beer that began out 15 years ago in the deranged minds of the owners. Having dedicated our lives and research to the creation of a small brewery open to the public, we ended up designing the production system, preparing valid brewing recipes over the years and conceiving, right down to the minimum detail, what would become the "Birrificio Italiano®" of Lurago rinone. The B.I Scale reflects the spirit of the people who invented the Birrificio Italiano® and the folks on both sides of the bar -- you and us -- who made it what it is today. |
| Never fear! The B.I. Scale is not technical or
specialist in nature. You do not need special brewery training, nor must you know much about
beer to comprehend it, because it is dedicated to beer lovers. In fact, the B.I. Scale is a
well-organized yet semi-serious collection of sensations and moods that are the result from
drinking (not always in moderate quantities) the craft beers of "Birrificio Italiano®".
The archive keeps getting bigger and better, and it follows and reflects everything that
changes and develops at "Birrificio Italiano®". YOU and US, IN PROGRESS. |
Nothing prevents each beer drinker or, better yet, beer taster from creating his own personal classification. At any rate, it is not a merit ranking: a seventh level beer is not necessarily better than a fifth level beer. However, the intensity – and not the quality – of the sensations linked to the first is probably stronger compared to that of the second, because the level assigned almost exactly reflects the alcohol content. For strait-laced folk and curiosity-seekers, each beer description is followed by a technical chart that lists the type and amount of raw materials and other details about the production process. |
