“Subarashī nyūsu” means “Great News”. In which language? Well, Japanese, naturally! Alright, maybe is not that ‘natural’ at all for one of the oldest Italian craft breweries to start a post with a Japanese incipit; but we assure you it will be… From June the 10th to the 14th, at least!

This year Birrificio Italiano will be official sponsor of Milano Manga Festival 2015 (at Fabbrica del Vapore, via Giulio Procaccini 4); an event we really wanted to take part in. Through manga and anime, cosplay, washoku (literally “japanese food”: Osaka-style street food, sushi, home and kaiseki cuisine) and music (from taiko drums to Jpop) the Festival’s aim is to spread awareness about Japanese culture in an era it really is often “trumped up”, especially from the gastronomic point of view.

Sponsored by the Japanese Consulate of Milan and AIRG – Italian Japanese Restaurants Association – MMF will be constituted of an open-air Matsuri (open-air folk fest with market stands, street food, theatrical and musical shows) around which workshops dedicated to the world of comics, cartoons, collections and gastronomy will take place; with prized guests from the Far East.

Well, what about us noi? We’ll be part of Matsuri and will quench giant robots’, and geishas’, and cosplayers’ thirst throughout the event – but especially, after having tried first-hand how well our Fleurette pairs with a seabass nigiri, we’ll be at the core of two workshops not to be missed

Saturday June the 13th and Sunday the 14th, starting at 1.30 P.M., our head brewer Agostino will meet Stefania Viti, journalist and “soul” of MMF, for a guided tasting of our beers which will be paired to some of the amazing dishes created by AIRG chefs. Entry fee is included in the price of the main admission ticket, available for purchase on the Festival’s website, but admittance limits are of 50 persons per turn – the event will need to be reserved at specific booths inside the MMF.

What then, will you be there? We are waiting for the wackiest and most colorful version of you! KAMPAI!
