    Snifter

The snifter (or baloon or napoleon) is a glass from the goblet family, historically used to serve liqueur wines or spirits. Structurally it is a glass of limited capacity (maximum 250 ml), with a wide foot, short stem and a rather reduced thickness: these features mean that the heat of the hand in contact with the glass favors the release of the more volatile aromatic components. These are conveyed to the mouth by a marked narrowing of the glass. For these reasons the glass lends itself very well to accepting complex alcoholic beers with moderate foam which are not afraid of oxidation phenomena, such as barleywine, doppelbock, eisbock and old ale.

“Our own Christmas carol, designed to support both the unstoppable happiness of serial holidays celebrators and the mood swings of those who can’t help hating the season of forced good feelings (be patient!)”.

More about this beer

When the festive season wraps around one’s neck as a tight scarf, in a twister of lights, trees and afternoons spent hunting for gifts; the world splits into two distinctive categories of people: the first party gladly joins the ritual, with wide smiles and a renewed sort of trust in good intentions, the other team opts for going full Scrooge and hating it all until the last ornament is gone.

Yule is designed to be enjoyed by both factions: strong and warming, it is enriched by a mixture of spices as pleasant as a mistletoe wreath on your neighbor’s door (or more).

Brewed with bitter orange peel, grains of paradise, coriander, star anise and cocoa nibs. It can be aged, evolving and growing in time.

Pairings

Ideal setting: At a table with your loved ones, while celebrating Christmas with its full set of good (or not-so-good…) intentions.

Food: Try it with stews, venison terrines, cow’s and sheep’s milk blue cheeses.
